Peduto administration looks to give COVID-19 funds to URA, guaranteed basic income project

While most of Pittsburgh’s $335 million in federal COVID-19 relief funds have been allocated to shore up city jobs and fill revenue holes, the Peduto administration is now looking to spend the remainder, including giving tens of millions to the city’s authorities as well as a smaller amount to jumpstart a guaranteed personal income pilot project.

The mayor’s office on Tuesday introduced four spending resolutions for the federal American Rescue Plan Act funds, including giving $74.8 million to the city’s Urban Redevelopment Authority for community projects and homeownership and small business loans and $17.5 million to the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority for lead line replacements.
