As Gov. Wolf readies his final budget, state universities wait to see if they will get more funding

The agenda for Thursday’s Pennsylvania state university system board meeting made no mention of Feb. 8 — as in next Tuesday.

But it was prominent in the room just the same.

It’s when Gov. Tom Wolf unveils his proposed 2022-23 state budget — and will reveal if he’ll include a historic funding increase sought by the State System of Higher Education, which has been merging campuses, overhauling programming and bringing costs into line to cope with enrollment losses.
