The Dentons Pennsylvania Public Affairs team has you covered with a curated run-down of the top news headlines and trending policy issues for the week ending August 25th.

This week, Union endorsements continue to roll in for Allegheny County executive candidates ahead of the November election. Leaders from the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce partnered with two state senators on Tuesday to push for state-level permitting reforms, making the case that a streamlined and more transparent permitting process will keep more businesses and workers in the state and ultimately pay dividends for the state’s economy. Just days after receiving endorsements from major labor unions, Sara Innamorato, the Democratic candidate for Allegheny County executive, released her plan to protect and promote workers’ rights. And finally, democrats and their allies are bringing up talk of abortion rights at their rallies and in their ads and are casting a contest for a Pennsylvania high court seat as an existential response to the U.S. Supreme Court’s conservative majority.
